Really nice item. They came pre-charged, but I left them in the sun all day and then repackaged them for my Mom (who lives with me). She put them out in the garden as soon as she received them. Unlike what I thought, the butterfly itself doesn't light up, but the whole length of each stick does, and that reflects onto the butterflies. Each one was a different color. They don't blink or flicker; it's just a solid light, but really bright and beautiful in the garden. If you had a lot of them you could probably use them to delineate a pathway. Would look really pretty!
