This fast charger is well made and seems durable. I can use it with my galaxy 8 so I really like it. You do need the wall adapter if plugging it into the wall but, a USB cord is included. It has a soft green light so you know it's on when charging the light switches to blue but, you don't have to plug your phone in. It's simple to set up and when you want to charge just place your phone on the flat laying charger. I like that it is flat because I have one that stands up and I'm constantly knocking it over.
