Every slice is different!

I got this set of 50 wood slices with twine not having any plans for them or any idea of what to do. I just knew I would find a use for them at some point. They are all about 2 1/2 to 3 inches. The twine is natural jute and you get 40 feet of that to work with. I loved how each wood slice had a different look to it. You could see some with really dark rings, some with barely any, and all had different shapes. I couldn't find two that looked the same at all. But what to use them for? I originally thought of making Christmas tree ornaments with them, but wasn't sure what I would do - paint? Decoupage? Wood burn? But then I saw something on Pinterest that was super cute and I decided I would do something similar on my own. I plan to use some of the wood slices to put names and numbers on and then will hang them all in rows under the months on a piece of plywood and create my own birthday calendar. I have small fake greenery and flowers I can add to embellish it, and the wood slices all already have holes drilled in the top of them to hang them from. I will just need to drill another small hole in the bottom when putting them in order under each month. I can't wait to see how it turns out!
