I was actually hoping this would go flatter a little softer material but that's on me. This material is thick with a nice squeaky inside. I got initially for a smaller dog but when I got it definitely went to the bigger dogs. It's definitely for bigger dogs. I don't know how long it would last if you let the dog chew on it. Squeaker is a choking hazard if your dog chews on it and gets it out.
