These come apart so you can clean them. They are heavy and super nice. I am in love with this set. Cuts chicken with no problems and also cuts carrots. They are great quality and fit inside the holder so you can never missplace them. The holder is stored on the refrigerator so the sissors fit nicely inside them. I always know where they are and can grab them at any time. The scissors are sharp and metal is heavy. These will last a long long time
