Great learning tool

I gave it four stars mainly because my grandson thinks it's the coolest thing on earth right now.  

The bank itself is plastic.  It takes two AAA batteries (not included) and fortunately it comes with a tiny screwdriver to open the battery cover.  It's the size of a large Ragu jar that you would get pasta sauce in.  

It does take some effort to get the coins to go thru the slot and at first was difficult for a three year old (thankfully, he accepted the challenge and was determined).  We added several coins and it was only off by one cent.  I read other reviews about it not being able to differentiate between dimes and pennies. I did not find this was the case.  The penny overage was due to a penny going 1/2 way in and popping back out again so it was calculated twice. 

Overall, it's a decent bank and we used it as a learning tool to make him tell us the name of each coin he was putting into the bank.
