Of course, I can't tell how one bulb would change the electricity bill, but can report nice bright light (don't doubt it is 400 watt equivalent). Since it is in a high garage ceiling, need the extra umph .. and this bulb delivers. Comes right on (none of the "warm up" nonsense) and great "daylight" frequency.
