It curls lashes as good as a normal lash curler. There are no instructions to be able to know what the lighted power button means, there are a few different colors that light up on it. I don't feel any warmth from it to indicate that it actually heats up. Seems to basically curl lashes so it does do that. I didn't receive the other item in the picture
