This is what my vet recommended for dematting my cat.

My 12 year old Maine Coon cat gets knots on her long belly fur, and won't let me near her with scissors. (I have never hurt her, even on accident.)  In the past, I have had her belly shaved or restrained her to remove knots, but last time we were at the vet, he recommended (and used) one of these.  She didn't mind!! (Sometimes, she will let me brush her if she is really relaxed.)  And it worked!   I was thrilled to find a two-for-one deal and am not at all disappointed with this purchase.  Each brush is individually packaged, so you can keep one and share one.
