Snaps are a little snug

I've been playing ukulele for a little over a year and I normally sit down while playing my sopranno size. It just fit so well in my lap and it's more comfortable that way. I did want to try out a strap, though, for those occasions when I want to play while walking around the house. It took me a minute to figure out how to attach the strap, because most ukulele straps have the snap for the soundhole and then the other end are ties for the headstock. It was a little awkward adjusting the strap so that both snaps went on the soundhole. The snaps are also very snug and my ukulele is a beginner piece, so I was scared of breaking the thin wood there. I think I'm going to cut one of the snaps off and figure out how to tie it around the headstock because the strap just seems more comfortable that way and a more natural way to use it.

The material is pretty good quality and the leather pad is comfortable.
