This leash is very nice. Feels sturdy and the locking mechanism works well. It says for medium to large dogs and for the smaller of the "big dog" it will work very nicely. With that being said I would not use this with a larger dog. My one boy is almost 70 pounds and unfortunatly one good yank and he pulled so hard the leash will no longer retract in.
