I am a soap maker and I use these frequently for checking temperature of my batches.
It is pretty self-explanatory when it comes to working the device. Just press the buttons and adjust between Celsius and Fahrenheit. It works well and it even comes with batteries!!!
When it is checking the temperature, it really does give off like a star shape as pictured on the link.
