This kit is a great idea for those just starting into watercolors. It comes with a nice sized color palette, a small assortment of brushes, and a pad with 12 sheets of thick art paper. This is just enough for any beginner to 'wet their whisker', as my dad would say, without shelling out a huge investment in case it just wasn't their thing.
The palette is nice, with 36 colors and a case with an attached lid. It's a little like the ones that were on my school supply list as a kid, only three times the colors. The included brushes are a basic set, but more than sufficient for any beginner. They are better than the ones available at the dollar stores, but they are definitely not artist quality. The paper pad is a little smaller than a steno pad, but a good size for holding with one hand as you paint with the others. The paper is thicker than I expected, which is nice.
Overall I'm impressed with this set. I'm looking forward to more experimentation with my artistic side.
