“Check out this Brew-tal Mug”

 I ordered this item as a small gift for my spouse who likes few things more than a good pun for his birthday. This “Fisticup” and the “knock out cup of coffee” language on the box gave him a chuckle. The package was undamaged and well designed. The product arrived without any damage to it, which I am always relieved to see.

The mug that I ordered was the black mug with the gold handle. The black mug is glossy, shining nicely in well-lit rooms. The coffee mug was well designed, while it is curved to fit the “brass knuckles,” it still holds the normal volume of coffee that a mug should. The finger holes are a decent size, although they could be a touch larger. While my fingers fit comfortably in the grip created by the brass knuckles, that is not the case for everyone. There is a gap between where the brass knuckles end and the actual end of the handle which creates an alternative grip, which was a nice touch. The gold handle is shiny, much like the glossy black color on the mug, so they look nice together and overall create an aesthetically pleasing pun.

The ceramic mug seems reasonably strong, although like most ceramic I expect it would break if I dropped it hard enough. The handle seems well built and sturdy, not at all flimsy or easy to bend. The bottom of the mug is flat, so it sits comfortable on the table and it is surprisingly well balanced because of the curve of the mug and the weight of the handle even when sitting on its side instead of on the flat bottom.

My spouse was kind enough to provide his thoughts as well. This was his general response to the mug: “The mug has an excellent pun for a name and the brass knuckles designed handle provide a good grip on the mug. while my fingers are rather large they still can fit within the inserts or if needed I can also hold the mug by the gap between the finger inserts and the palm rest. 9/10 would mug again.”

Between the two of us, I would give the mug of 4.5 of 5 stars. If the finger holes were just a touch larger, it would be a 5 out of 5. The only cons that I see, other than the slightly small finger holes, is that the odd shape can make it a bit tricky to store if your mug storage is full.
