The rough side cleaned pretty well when necessary but I tend to use sponges to scrub pretty forcefully which these can't hold up for. Absorbancy was great. Hard scrubbing on steel pots & pans was good at first but after several days the scrubber side comes apart. Maybe I'll use these for washing cars, bikes, the gas-grill, whatever. They are very cute but not durable at all.
