this soap saver works for what it is intended for. It clearly lifts the soap to a higher level so that soaps drain well and keep its shape without being drowned in water and becoming mushy.

It is not really a "soap dish" as liquid will flow downwards and out while keeping the soap dry from water. You could use this inside a small box or soap dish as a "liner" that will keep the soap dry from water. But ideally this InterDesign Soap Saver is best used plain inside a shower room so that any water that leaves will simply fall inside the the shower room.

The material feels like a silicone albeit I believe it is plastic. The small negative I found in using these for months is that it can be hard to clean and regain its original clarity. Other than that, I think this is a solution for those who want to prolong the life of a soap bar and mainly uses the soap bar inside a shower room.
