This works as I expected. It does come with USB cord to plug it in but you can put 6 batteries in and not have the cord if you like. The LED lights are bright enough to put on makeup with no problem and the small detachable magnification mirror is great (a little hard to remove though--might be a good idea to put it where you want it and leave it alone). I'm pleased with this.
