My boys have both become huge fans of fidget spinners. We now have countless spinners, a few cubes, and some other fidget toys. But the spinners are their favorite. This one caught both of their eyes and they both begged me to get it. My youngest snagged it as soon as it came in, telling his brother he could have the next one (and then I heard complaints and grumbling for days about how unfair it is). This is definitely a NICE looking spinner. We all love the look of it, and it is quite heavy compared to the plastic ones they have. It spins nicely and is very cool to see when spinning.
I do have to caution you though. Do NOT drop it. We had a similar one that my son took to school to show off. One of his friends was handing it back to him and dropped it. The spinner broke and they lost the bearings. I tried ordering new bearings for it, but got the wrong size. A friend said they could fix it, but they also had the same problems, so we tossed it in the trash.
Because it can break so easily, it does make doing tricks with it a bit more problematic. My son has decided he will use his plastic ones for tricks and leave this one for just spinning and showing off.
As a former Special Education teacher, I can attest to the value of having something like this for the kids. I can see how this could help kids who have trouble focusing and fidget. I had my share of tappers, bouncers, and wigglers over the years. I used a variety of strategies to help them get that energy out so that they could focus, while not interrupting my teaching and the learning of everyone in the class. The challenge as a teacher who uses items like this is teaching the kids how to use it as a tool for getting the wiggles out, not a toy that distracts them from learning.
If you have a fidgeter, this is a must. Of course, after the huge craze with fidget spinners, remind your kids not to take them to school if they don't want them taken away. But for around the house, it has been a great addition that keeps the kids as entertained as it does the dogs who can't seem to figure out what is going on.
