A perfect base for beach activities.

This "beach blanket" is more like a large beach vinyl sheet, similar to material used in making rain jackets or tents. It repels water well but would need to be dried off before storing it again. Sand did shake off easily even when wet which is probably its best feature. The hook is sturdy and the extra clasp protection is nice. Items don't accidently unclip. This works great as "home base" for beach activities. It will get a little sticky if you lie directly on the mat, so I still recommend a towel for comfort. The pockets are a nice touch as are the spikes to anchor the "blanket." Folding the blanket is easy even if you don't carefully follow the fold lines.
