I bought this to charge my Nexus 5x using the OEM wall charger. Maybe half the time it doesn't result in "Charging rapidly" status. It doesn't seem to matter which orientation I have it plugged in with.
If I unplug and re-plug the cable, sometimes it'll go into rapid mode.
When using the shorter OEM USB type-C cable, it always goes into rapid mode, no magic incantations or special cable insertion technique required.
