First off the instructions are on the product page. That being said, take out plug, it is not a air hole for provided pump to go into. Once it is removed, fill up donkey with air and replace plug. My daughter loves it very much.the only other issues is that it was a little greasy and had factory debris on it. After a quick wipe down, it was ready for my three year old to wrangle it in.
