Works great, but dog is afraid of it!

I have recently moved from a home to an apartment and my Lab has extreme separation anxiety, so he likes to dig through the carpet and door frames... I purchased this before moving thinking it would be best to trim his nails down in order to avoid costly fees for repairs if he decided to dig at the new place. I tried this on 3 separate occasions and he just won't allow me to trim them! He is afraid of it no matter what I try. I think the vibration might be a bit too high, but I'm not entirely sure! Still keeping up hope because the product actually works great!
