This this is only a 3.5 star device for lots of minor reasons; slow is not slow enough (video shows slow mode) models lacks more variation between what's possible (it won't do dots alone, so you are always stuck with trees bells santas and snowflakes in the mix), you can set to red only, green only or red and green. Has 3 speeds and freeze mode.

i'm using mine indoors and doubt it's bright enough for outdoors with any city street lights nearby, at least not for more than a single large bush or small tree.

Whats good about it being dim is you can run it without much power consumption (ac:dc is 5v1a) i wish the field could be narrowed instead of bring 160° full time where it dims along the peripheral.

while this can work off a lamp timer, it always defaults to all colors and patterns when back on and forgets what mode you left it in. the remote timer mode allows you to select 2,4,6,8 hours on and the remainder of the 24 hour cycle off - but at least it remembers what mode you wanted.

This is still a GREAT but for the price!
