Nicely made, but mildew stench

I was very excited when I ordered this wallet.  It's very very cute.  The stitching looked good.  Lots of room for cash, checkbook, and a zippered compartment for change.  I also loved all the slots for credit cards and the clear cover for your id is a great feature.  My only problem was that it smelled like mildew.  If you know a way to get rid of mildew smell, then hook this puppy up because otherwise it would be ideal.
