I’ve always wanted to do the tap tap tap type of cutting you see the professional chefs do. I couldn’t master it. After using this I figured out why – you have to actually use a knife that cuts well! It’s pretty amazing when you figure out the difference and just how easy this makes preparing chopped items.
It comes in a beautiful box, well protected and held securely. I’m not a knife expert, but it didn’t feel exceptionally sharp right out of the box, so I did sharpen it. I have a manual sharpener and I just ran it through that about 5 times. Then I decided to break it in by making Pico de Gallo. Lots of slicing, chopping and dicing. I was able to hold the tomato with my right hand and just bring the knife down for a completely clean slice, very little pressure. I did the same with the onions, the peppers, the cilantro. Everything sliced like butter. Then I rested my hand on the end of the knife and brought the handle up and down quickly and it was the tiniest, finest dicing, just because I was having so much fun. I didn’t do it fast, I’m going to need a lot more practice. Right now these could take my finger off if I get carried away. Very nice set, it feels well balanced in my hand, slices clean, the handle is comfortable and it is a gorgeous piece.
