This timer works well but be aware of the constant ticking noise until it is done. It's okay if you are in another room waiting to hear if the food is done but I needed one to sit beside me while I watched TV and knitted waiting for dinner and the ticking just about drove me nuts. The timer does work, just be aware of the noise if that kind of thing bothers you.
