This made a cute gift. It comes on a flat wooden board. All you have to do is pop them out and start building. It doesn't come with directions that I saw but it was easy for the 8 year old I gave it to. It look a little while for him to finish building the 2 puzzles and it kept him occupied for a couple hours. He likes that he can take it apart and rebuild it any time he wants an he can also display his hard work for everyone to see.
