Easy to set and very sensitive, I just think I have smart mice

I don't know whether I have the smartest mice in the world or they can levitate, but either way, they are getting the bait but not getting caught in the traps.

We noticed a few weeks ago a bad mouse infestation in our pantry room.  I cleaned it all up and then put out traps.  I used the basic wooden traps.  Caught a mouse per day for three days, but then the traps stopped working.  The mice would get the bait but the traps wouldn't spring.  We thought perhaps they had become less sensitive, so we ordered these plastic traps by LuvisR.  These are very sensitive and they should work, but so far, my mice are out-smarting the traps.

I use peanut butter (which the mice LOVE).  I put it deeply into the hole (so the mice would have to reach in to get it).  But my mice are somehow avoiding stepping on the plate (which will trigger the spring) and still getting the peanut butter.  And they get it all!  The hole is perfectly clean each morning and no mice are being killed :-(

I will continue to put these traps out.  I'm not sure it's the traps.  I think it's the mice, because before this they were out-smarting the wooden traps too.  In the meantime, I have ordered some ultrasonic pest repellers which have excellent ratings and are supposed to work.  

These traps are easier to set than the traditional wooden ones.  Just make sure you only put food IN THE HOLE and not on the flat plate where the mice need to step.  If you put anything on the plate it will throw off the balance of the traps and you will not be able to get them to set in the ready position.
