Not the most convenient, but works

I picked up this device because I had another one that I thought was like it a few months ago that I absolutely loved. But it broke and I wanted a new one. It was a device that I used when my usb drive went out in my laptop to help me transfer from my phone  to laptop for easy transfer of files. But I fixed my usb port and no longer needed to access it through another port instead, and was able to bypass the extra steps involved.   This device is designed with a usb plug on one end and a micro usb plug on the other. It has two card slots in the side. You can use a mini memory card or a full size memory card in it. The cards don't fully insert all the way in, since the device is small, so will hang out the sides. There are also no caps on either end, so there are plenty of places that dust and particles can get in if you are not careful and keep it cleaned. You insert the memory card of your choice, then insert the micro-usb end in to your device you are backing things up from.  The challenge is figuring out how to send your files from your device to the memory card. It took some exploring for me to figure it out on my phone and then on my tablet. I could give you the ways I did it, but it may be different on your device, so won't do much good. Then plug the small memory stick in to the computer you want to access things from and transfer them over to your pc.   I don't like the fact that you have to use a memory card with this. If I wanted to use something to transfer files from my phone or tablet to my computer, I could easily connect it with a usb cable. I don't see the reason why I need to plug in a card reader, transfer everything from the device to the card, then plug it in to my computer and transfer from the card back to the computer. It seems like so many unnecessary steps. Maybe I am missing something about how this is better used, but for me... I didn't have any luck doing it any way but that. I could not connect the device directly to my phone and computer at the same time, nor tablet and computer at the same time... So it is beyond my understanding how this is a helpful tool for me. I have other ways to do things, so this is not making it any easier or faster for me.   Because of all of that, I cannot say I would recommend it to anyone. I don't even know who it might be good for, which typically I try to saw when reviewing. I try to find someone who might benefit from using the things I have tried, but I don't have anything this time. It works, I can say that much. But it is not something that has made work any easier for me.
