I know you are probably thinking who still needs an optical drive. However, my mother recently purchased her first laptop, and like many laptops today, it does not have a CD/DVD drive. I bought this optical drive so she could use it to watch her DVDs. This drive works like the other optical drives. It was not difficult to set this up to her computer and I am quite pleased with the features. It does what it needs to do without any complex setup.
