I would say that this is a beginners set because the handles are very lightweight.  I like carving wood and making projects.  I can see the kids using these for pumpkin decorating as they are lightweight, I would recommend supervision with them, as they are sharp too, but a little creativity with these will make them a great item to have for crafts.
