1. The charge lasts a while, weeks at least. I'm not really sure how long because we charged it once and haven't had to since.
2. Because it's not plugged in you can take it ANYWHERE. Park cookout, camping, tailgate... As long as you can carry a five-gallon jug you can bring it just about anywhere. This makes my heart happy.
3. You can set it on the floor and teach your little kid to get their own water by pressing the button with the 0.5 on it.
4. You'll buy less bottled water. I guess this should have been the first on the list because we all know it's a problem.
