The power chord has a decent length to it so you can extend it from the original power source to the desired area and the operating it simple enough as longa as you follow the instructions. The 4 power outlets on the power strip can be turned on and off individually from each other but, the 4 USB ports can only be turned on or off all at the same time and not individually.
