So, in the past, I often made my own essential oils using a still and collecting the oil in various vials. Between law school and just generally being busy, I never replaced my still when it broke. However, I recently started planning to replace my still and I am slowing purchasing the supplies that I need in order to make oils efficiently. One of the most important items in making essentials oils is having a secure container to keep the oil in so that it does not end up all over the counters and you can keep it safe between use. I ordered these vials from StarSide because the package came with 30 small vials, droppers, and lids for a really reasonably price on Amazon at $7.19. The packaging was well done, a small box that allowed each of the vials to be secure within their bag, and undamaged. The vials also arrived undamaged. I will note, however, that it arrived several days after I got the text saying it was delivered which was odd and the seller was not particularly helpful in that matter.
When it arrived, the product came with 30 bottles, 30 lids, 3 droppers, and 30 plastic seals for inside the bottles. Each type of item (bottle, lid, seal) was individually bagged but they did not have any other sort of packing material to keep the vials safe. That said, all of the materials did arrive undamaged and ready for use. The vials are small as each one is designed to hold 5/8 of a dram of liquid within it. While that seems really tiny, it can actually be a decent size for essential oils where you only use a few drops at a time or you want to give away samples of different blends. The vials are a pretty shade of deep blue that supposedly protects the contents from UV rays, although I do not have the means to test that feature at home.
The inserts, while important to prevent spilling, were not well designed for such small bottles as they are very difficult to use as intended. I did get the correct number and they do work, but they are certainly a source of frustration to a degree. I primarily got these bottles as I want to use them to test a variety of essential oil blends and to give away small testers for some friends of mine who enjoy using essential oils in diffusers, soaps, or other products before producing larger sizes. For that purpose, the frustrating inserts will not create too much of an issue but I could see it becoming problematic in bulk.
Overall, I would give this product a 3 of 5 stars. It does the job as a sample size bottle for essential oils and it is aesthetically pleasing but the inserts could be a huge issue for people who want to create a lot of different oils and frankly the three plastic droppers are poor quality and would be better replaced by a single, nice glass dropper in future sales. That said, the product will work very well for my goals and I may very well get this product again.
