Pretty but could be more effective

This small necklace is actually a very cute way to bring essential oils with you wherever you go. It comes in a black velvet pouch with the chain, 5 washable pads and the container, and the pendant itself. The washable pads come in purple, blue, green, pink, and orange. They are made of a felt, but the cheap material does not detract from the necklaces cuteness when it is enclosed within the pendant.

That said, while it is very cute, it only serves it designated purpose moderately well. To use the product as intended, you add 4 or 5 drops of oil on the felt pad and enclose it in the pendant to wear with you. The chain is a decent length for an adult, so the pendant sits where you would expect it to. When I used a strongly scented essential oil, I was able to smell it just from wearing the pendant. However, for any milder scents I needed to bring the necklace closer to my nose to benefit from the oil. I tried it with the following scents: eucalyptus, lavender, and blood orange. The Eucalyptus I could smell even when I was wearing it, but that ability faded fairly quickly as the oil dried into the felt. By the end of the day, I needed to bring it close to my nose to smell it. I got the same results from my lavender essential oil that I did with the eucalyptus. With the blood orange, I needed to bring it closer to my nose to smell almost right from the start.  

Another slightly inconvenient aspects is that, with how the pendant is designed, you have to take it off the chain to open it and replace the pad. The chain goes through the shutting mechanism, so that just adds an extra step to swapping the pads out with a fresh one or adding more oil to the current pad. The pendent does have multiple holes in the design that you could theoretically add the oil without opening it, but I would not want to constantly get oil on the metal personally.

While it does not serve the purpose perfectly, it still does the job reasonably well considering that it is a piece of jewelry and not a diffuser. The various colors of the felt pads are a nice touch because it allows you to match various outfits more easily with the large pendant. The design on the pendant is well done and although it is large it does not cross the line into being too clunky. Overall, I would give the necklace a 4 of 5 stars. It receives a 3.5 out of 5 stars on its effectiveness but a 4.5 stars for its appearance, so I am rounding it to a 4 out of 5.
