Glass and has some weight to it. Very easy to use and made calculating my portion sizes so much easier. It’s a nice big surface I just put waxed paper or parchment paper on the scale, set the measurement I needed and started weighing out and packing up portions for meal prep! This was truly the easiest scale I’ve used for food prep
