This stand fits together to create the stand and has a padded area where the ukelele or guitar sits so it doesn't scratch the instrument. There are no screws or metal to scratch, either. It is durable and stable as well as conveniently portable. The stand measures 6" across and holds an instrument 3" deep. It came very well packed in bubble wrap.
