Guest reviewer and competitive Jr. Roller Derby Skater, Smother Theresa gives us a candid take on these lightweight and breathable athletic Capri pants. The description on Amazon describes them as being constructed of “sweat-wicking fabric” enhanced with the mesh netting behind the knee.
Smother is a sweater. Not the warm and fuzzy kind. The “put your windows down after practice regardless of the -37 windchill” kind. The “I think my eyes are melting” kind. The “Please take me NOW kind.” You get the picture. When a derby girl sweats, just like her skating, she gives her all. She could only describe them to me as, “awkwardly slippery.”
This 80% Polyester 20% Spandex fabric does have a bit of a shine to it. The “Fabric is designed to contour perfectly to your body, giving you a streamlined look.” Smother described them as being a “little bunchy in the ‘girl’ area” and that made her a bit self-conscious.
The video shows the exact fit as she moves. She will wear them, and ultimately destroy them, as she does all athletic pants except for her Adidas Joggers, which are too long for a uniform, but get skated in several times a week and are proving to be worth every cent.
These Capri pants still rated a 4.5 for our Smother, losing a star because she’s not a fan of the way the seam on the mesh rubs her knee pads. These will be more of a casual workout pant, instead.
