This item is part of a dash camera installation in my 2013 Ford Escape. I didn't want to wire it directly into the vehicle's electrical system so as to maintain portability, as well as go to the trouble to install a fuse to protect the camera. This saved me the effort in that it's fused and there is an extra receptacle to accommodate another device if needed. I occasionally use an amber flashing emergency light that requires a power port which is magnetically attached to the roof of the vehicle. The 2 USB ports are a nice extra feature, as we all have various devices that need charging from time to time. It's quite well made, so durability shouldn't be a problem. I like the manner of its configuration in that, when it's flipped over on it's side (Not the configuration pictured) and rotated to be directed toward the driver, it's fairly low in profile when the plug for the dashcam is plugged in. This allows me to reach across the console for other purposes without it getting in my way. I've had it installed for about 2 weeks and I'm happy with it.
