I need drive because the one on my Mac crapped out on me. It was an old computer and I didn't want to get it fixed or purchase an expensive external drive. I purchased this drive because the price was right. It works for what I need it. It reads DVDs quickly and I'm able to play movies or burn photos/videos onto DVDs rather easily. I would recommend this to a user who still has stuff on DVD since DVD players in computers seem to be disappearing.
