Flashlights are a must when you have a family of Scouters. And the boys always hunt through everything we have to find the smallest and most lightweight ones they can so that they don't have anything heavy in their daypacks. I saw this set of two small flashlights and knew it was something we needed to add to our equipment collection, especially since you get two flashlights for under $10.
The flashlights are super small. They easily fit in your hand and can be stashed in your purse, daypack, backpack, or car without taking up space. And they don't weight a lot, so they won't burden you or add unwanted, unneeded weight to whatever you are carrying. They have a side clasp on them that allows you to snap it on your pocket or to a strap on your backpack/daypack.
Operation is simple. They require only one double A battery to power them up, so you don't have to worry about needing to carry a lot of batteries with you (more added weight and precious space taken). There is a push button on the end that allows you to quickly and easily turn it on or off. And because of the design, you don't have to worry about a switch getting bumped and turning it on while in your pack or bag.
These also have the ability to telescope. You can twist the end closest to the light to widen the beam or narrow it down. And it is bright! I was surprised at how bright this little light can be! They are 350 lumens, which is pretty good for a light that is so small. It is perfect for lighting your way and looking in to narrow areas or dark places.
I am quite pleased with these flashlights and know the boys are excited to have something small and compact. They already traded out the lights in their daypacks for these and are ready for their next campout that is coming up in another week and a half. It was a great purchase for my Boy Scouts!
