One of my biggest pet pieves is when somebody leaves the spounge in the sink. The next time you go to use it, it is covered in mold. Leaviung it in the water is just like throwing it away. HOwever, this product is not sensitive to being submerged in water. It is still bacteria and mold free. It is a much cleaner solution! Love it!
