We buy a whole beef tenderloin when they go on sale and just cut our own filets. It is so much cheaper than buying individual already cut steaks. But we have a system in place for wrapping the meat to prevent freezer burn. We wanted more. We wanted to vacuum seal the steaks before freezing them.
This vacuum sealer works right out of the box. Some things to note: When you flip the rocker switch to turn it on, NO lights come on. You just have to believe it is on. Once on, you have to place the open edge of the bag within the foam rings on the top and bottom of the unit. Once you are ready to place your bag, you can use the two included magnets to hold the bag in place for closing the lid. You have to make sure the bag is flat after closing the lid and snapping it shut. Once you close it firmly, the light comes on to let you know it is ready. Press the button to vacuum and seal the bag and wait for the unit to remove the air from the bag. Near the end, hold your palm firmly on the lid in the middle to ensure a good seal on the bag. If you do all of this correctly, you will be rewarded with a vacuum-packed, sealed bag of whatever.
I do like this sealer better than my old one because this one will seal bigger bags than my old one did.
