Are the claws made of solid adamantium? No. Do they need to be any stronger than the thin plastic they are? No; I clawed apart 9 pounds of pork shoulder with no flex in the claws at all. I see some folks complaining that the basting brush silicone separates from the handle. I believe they would also complain if they couldn't take it apart to clean. All silicone basting brushes I've ever bought, including fancy ones from Williams-Sonoma, have friction-fit heads so you can easily disassemble for cleaning.
