I've always wanted a refillable butane gas torch for making Creme Brulee and now I have one. This culinary torch by UniThink is fabulous! Please keep these few things in mind when using this type or torch:. Do not light the toulrch immediately after filling with butane gas,as any residue might be on the outside and light up. It's best to just wait a few minutes to be on the safe side. Never smoke while filling the torch ( just common sense), and of course never try to touch the flame while in use, as this does get extraordinarily hot and you can get burned.
I've used mttorch not only for Creme Brulee, but also for toasting the topping of coconut cream pie, and for making a quick smores pie to melt the chocolate and marshmellows together on top of the graham crackers.
I also think this would be great to have on camping trips for heating the bottom of the enamel camping coffee kettle.
At only $17.99 this is a good buy. Just remember that the butane gas is not included in the package. I purchased my butane gas at a place that sells BBQ gas grills and propane gas. It was only a few dollars.
I also love that this device has an adjustable flame and lock.
