Smooth, one-handed operation

The umbrella comes in a matte translucent box that would be perfect for gifting. Inside the top unbrella has a zippered cover on it. This comes in handy later. The umbrella is about the length of my forearm and it's very light. Despite the weight of the frame, it manages to be very easy to maneuver and feels solid in your hand. There is a button on the handle (with a velvety texture that will be non-slip when it gets wet) that opens the umbrella. It opens smoothly and quickly but also gently. The actual span of it is generous, and stands up to the wind. 

My favorite part is that when you push the button again, it closes. This shakes of a good deal of water without making a mess. Another quick shake and you can push it down into the handle, secure the snap on the tie and it's ready to be put back into the cover. The top was much "fluffier" than when I opened it there first time but they think of everything with the zipper on the cover allowing for the cover to be out back on easily. This is a wonderful umbrella to use for any occasion. I like the white and purple even though I'm partial to more variety in the design.
