We will be making masks for the kids for school and will be using this cord for their masks. The elastic says 55 yards and there is no way to verify without measuring, so I am going to trust that is what it is! The elastic has a little bit of stretch and I think it works well for kid's masks. I have several elastic and my kiddos picked out this for their masks. I will go with one a little thicker for an adult. The elastic is not rolled up, rather placed haphazardly in a cellophone bag. Despite this, I am very pleased with how it feels and holds to being cut. I hope it holds up to washing as well. I will update my review after we have washed our masks if we had issues.
