If you're making your own masks then this is a must have. Stretchy and easy to use. I had to fix the ear loops on some homemade masks I purchased. The person used hair ties and those are not comfortable. I replaced them with this. I measured out what I needed. Put it through the opening and tied it. It's held up well through multiple uses and there's plenty leftover to replace as needed.
