My boys love to have different types of lights in their room, which is at the front of our house, so from the outside it looks like a disco going on typically. They were eager to try out this LED projector and added it to their disco light collection after I finished taking pictures and recording a video demonstration (available on YouTube and my blog).
The unit was not up to my expectations, though. It works great when projecting the lights on the ceiling and wall, but the entire unit is pretty flimsy and cheaply made. It won't last long, I fear, especially if it gets knocked off the dresser or smooshed between things.
I was also surprised to see there was no cord included for the device, though there is a place to plug it in. I really wish they had included this, as I don't want to buy one and hate having to replace batteries. But batteries it is for us - it takes 3 double A batteries to power it up.
The top fell off continuously, and I ended up bending the top insert as I tried to get it to stay in place. It is very thin and flimsy with a plastic ring to hold it in place. I am going to try to use super glue and sick it in place on the ring, that way I can still take it off if I need access to the lights. But I am not sure if that will be possible. I wish they made the top piece and the ring one solid piece instead of two.
Overall, this is just a so so unit. It works as intended and projects in solid white or flashing color, but is not well made. But considering it is less than $10, you get what you pay for.
