I have ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and require the deepest tissue massage before I can even feel it and get any relief. And, because of intervertebral disk loss (from the AS), I also had a level c5 - c6 anterior cervical fusion about a decade ago. I have very deep and achy neck pain more often than not and have been to several deep tissue massage therapists for relief, but they won't dig deep enough into my neck as I need them to for pain relief, because of the fusion. I have some gadgets that offer partial relief like chiropractic bars and other massage tools, and I've also tried other automated massagers, including a device similar to this one; however, it didn't have a heat function, and the internal massage mechanism was different - not in a good way. Simply put, it was a very cheap version of this Rockbirds massager, that broke after four uses and wasn't nearly as strong.
Honestly, this massager has taken away my tears more than once. It digs in super deep and can stay in one spot longer than any human fingers, and combined with the heat, it's a God-send. Don't get me wrong, my pain is still there, but this helps make it tolerable. I also don't use it in a "normal" manner either though. I flip it and turn it and maneuver it in all kinds of funky ways to get relief, but it actually helps, and is one of the only things that actually works! I'm glad I gave this one a try after the last hunk of junk I tried. I rely on it often and highly recommend it to anyone with neck pain that requires deep tissue relief. A++
PS - I also want to include how pleased I am with the pleather surface and dustcover. It wipes clean super easy and is very strong and durable while still feeling soft and smooth to the touch. Also, I must note how helpful this type and texture of mesh is around the "rocks". It keeps it on the same area of my neck without slipping or irritation, making such a difference, especially in the unorthodox way I use the device.
